Printing Your Personal Blog

I love keeping my personal blog up to date so my friends and family can see what we are up to. I also like to have a printed copy for myself so I can look back at all of the fun things we did and my kids will one day be able to read all of the stories I wrote down. There a many places that will print your blog such as blurb or print2blog. Although these are really nice and easy to use I couldn't find one that made the book the way I wanted it. It always seemed like the pictures and words didn't line up or they didn't look the way I liked it.

So, I created my own blog book in photoshop. I just copy and pasted my words from my blog post and inserted my pictures, organized them the way I wanted them to look and saved as a .jpeg.  Here is an example of what my blog pages look like.
Sometimes if the blog post is pretty long it ends up taking a few pages.

It does take a little time to create each page but it will be fun to have in the future.
At the end of each year I have all of the pages printed into a bound book. So fun!

Do you print your blog into a book? If so, how do you do it?

Friday Flair

Each Friday I am going to show you some great layouts from the Becky Young Designs gallery that are some awesome inspiration. Today I want to show you some layouts that have great titles. I think a title can really make a page and draw your attention to what the whole layout is about.

This one is by hripp and it uses my "Fresh" kit.

This one is by mdkscrapper and uses my "May Flowers" kit.
This one is by snooprz and uses my "My Mother" kit.

And this one is by me and also uses my "My Mother" kit. Aren't these some great layouts with some great titles. I love how the title really makes these pages stand out. So, I challenge you to work on creating titles that really complete your layouts. Happy Scrapping!

Scanning Important Items for Your Layouts

Whenever I go somewhere important I always come home with tickets to the event, brochures or pamphlets from our activity. If I were paper scrapping I would just cut them up and use them in my layouts since I love having these great keepsakes to look back and remember.

Well, you can do the same thing with digi scrapping. I just take the ticket or brochure and scan it on to my computer. I then just crop it the way I want it and place it on my layout. It's very easy and then you can throw the item away once you scan it. Just make sure you are scanning your items at a minimum or 300 dpi so that they print at a high quality.

Check out a few layouts I have done this with.

This first layout was from a Utah Jazz Basketball game I went to. I just scanned the ticket and placed it behind my photo. It's fun to be able to read all of the information on the ticket.

(The kit used on this layout is just one I made up for this layout.) This next layout is from my honeymoon cruise. I scanned the ID card they give you to use on the cruise. It's great to have these memories.
(Kit: Beach Cruisin' by Becky Young Designs)

If you don't want to scan or don't have a scanner, you can always just take a picture of the ticket or item and use it in your layout. Check out these layouts as an example.
This first layout is of a Darrius Rucker concert I went to. I just took a picture of the tickets and used it in my layout. That way you can just throw the tickets away.
(I'm not sure what kit this is. Please let me know if you know.) And this next layout is of a Utah Bee's Game I went to. Once again I just took a picture of the tickets and used them in my layout. I try to take a picture of them at the event so I don't have to worry about them getting lost.
(Kit: Batter Up by Teri's Thing-O-My-Jigs)

I think either way you want to cooridinate your tickets and other items in your layout is a great option. It will be fun down the road to be able to look at these layouts and remember all the fun you had and be able to see all of the information about it.

This beautiful kit inspired by Rainamoon Scraps with STS Designer Daraling contributions is both elegant and fun, vibrant and beautiful just like the woman it was made to honor. Eva Markvoort was the subject of a documentary called 65 Red Roses which chronicaled her battle with her genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis. Eva loved the color red and was well known for wearing the vibrant shade in her hair.
